350 Swap

Hey there,
Im new to this forum, and i havnt owned my '80 XJ6 (Series III) for very long... But i have a blown transmission, but rather than getting a new tranny, i wanted to put a Chevy 350 in it. I was planning on doing it anyways, this is just a bit of incentive. I was wondering if anyone else here has done this, and if so, what type of engine did you use? And what are some of the issues i should be prepared to deal with... Thanks a million in advance :)

RE: 350 Swap

.as a north florida hotrodder i have seen several 350's in jags........its actually quite common and makes sense $$$$$......early 90's caprice or buick roadmaster are identical, throttle body engine are very available with 700r4 trans will do you just fine ....it will be a great reliable cruiser......they are 2 bolt main bearing and roller cam with ECM ...dont let that scare you......absolutelyDO NOT convert to carb..........i used this exact set up recently..........since there are many many converted in this manner some one some where makes a kit for this installation...........good luck and happy cruising ......bill gregg 352-475-3190

RE: 350 Swap

I am also new to this forum, and Just bought a pretty rough 1986 XJ-6. A Mechanic friend of mine tells me his brother installed a 350 in a 1986, and the motor mounts bolt right up. I havent verified this, but if this is true, then shifter linkage, transmission crosmember support, and driveshaft might be the only things that would have to be modified. We shall see-
