at 60MPH the jag Jerks and stalls-

team, please excuse the phrase "jerk" but i cannot describe the problem i'm having with my Jag. In the morning it starts up fine, i drive for about 5 miles and then it starts to Jerk until it stalls? I put it in neutral and throttle to clear out. on the Highway as i climb to 60 it starts to jerk again. I put it in nurtral and trottle to clear. it starting to do this more frequently now. in my mission of mercy, i ask for anyone to please help me undestand this problem. 1992 XJ6 soverign, 91,000 miles

First things first, WELCOME.

Please do your "thing" in the new members area when time permits.

Your 1992 XJ6 is what is known as an XJ40, confused?, fear not, you are not alone there.

I suggest a quick repost in that section for maximum/accurate answers. One of the moderators will slide through eventually and move it for you.

My first thoughts are (in no particular order):

Blocked fuel filter.
Tired fuel pump.
OLD spark plugs, and/or the wrong spec plugs.
Clogged air filter.
Ignition coil lead (the one from the coil TO the cap), may be crusty inside the coil spigot.
Fuel tank venting junk not working, so pop the cap and try again.

The fact you rev it to clear it, sounds more like a "load related" issue, which is usually spark plugs etc.

Grant thank you for the advice, I will get started on it, right away.
