SWEET.

The JD always assists setting up of RTV.

Tomorrow will be a breeze, clear head, steady hands, headache to die for, Jag needing attention, NORMAL day in my opinion.

That bead looks GOOD, as does the "squish".

Looking good.

Wow, that tin pan has taken some hits. But, I note you bashed it bak into close to what it should look like.

Tin pans have a way of becoming deformed around the bolt hoes. A raided edge around the circumference. it makes a seal tougher to get. With something on the other side, a few gentle whacks with a body hammer removes the bulge and allows the edge of the pan to contact the transmission case or engine block much better.

Default Success

After a 20 mile road test, and parking back on the ramps all looks sealed. There is one bolt with a drip of fluid on it but that is directly below one of the fluid lines that goes to radiator. I am assuming one of the connections there is weeping.
That is a job for another day.

Talking Doing it down under

I am new to this Jaguar forum, pick up my 74 XJ S2 next week, it has been stored in a garage since 1991 and has done less than 26,000 km.
First thing I intend to do is change all the fluids, so it was very interest reading in this thread and informative.

I have been a Jeep nut for a long time currently owning a 79, 99 & 2010 models
The 79 is currently under going a full restoration and have just stated putting back together (exciting).

But I have always wanted a classic car, was looking at MK2 3.8L till I stumbled upon the 74 XJ,

Reading about some of the cleaning fluids you Guys are using made my dormant cancer cell starting to cheer.

My normal way of cleaning auto, diffs, thermostat housing etc is to peel of most the crap with a scraper (carefully) then use my Dremel or battery drill with a soft wire wheel and buff of any crap left then use a medium fine wet & dry sandpaper to finish of the pan. If I have to use the wire wheel on the auto or diff housing, I stuff them with clean rags first.

Look forward to talking too you in other threads

Welcome aboard.

The S2 is a simply awesome car, and much easier as a classic than ths MK2.

When you tear yourself away from the Jeep, drop by the Victorian section and say HI, and also the New Members at the top of the opening page.

Hi cherren, another Jeep nut here. I just put my 95' XJ cherokee up for sale yesterday. After 17 years with the XJ we have decided to upgrade to a 2011-2013 Kk Cherokee.
That xj got me there and back every time.
