acts like battery dead.....

car is going to paint shop monday morning, and of course now something goes wrong!
car wouldnt start this morning! acting like battery is almost dead, its a two year old battery, car turns over very slowly, maybe two turns total before stopping and then nothing! I figured what the hell and bought a new battery, didnt change a thing!!! i tightened ground cable from battery to body, and body to transmission/engine cable too, still no change! starter is about 2 months old! could that be the culprit? i have a spare on the shelf,
Battery is on a charger at the moment i guess its possible i bought low battery.

What would you check next???

Loose connection at starter or loose connection at the RH "+" junction post on the firewall?

Dud starter? Yes, a possibility. When you are trying to start the engine do the interior lights get really, really dim? Like the starter is sucking way too much electricity out fot eh system? If so, the starter might be a dud.

Charge battery, tighten all connections, try again, post back

Use the VOM. Measure the volts. too bad modern batteries are not easily subject to a hydrometer as in the old days to determine state of charge and balance between the cells.

If you have a smart charger with a jump 50 amp mode, try that.

It was the starter!! I figured i had the new gear reduction on the shelf (old one went bad at a year, and they warranted it, but i had already bought new one in anticipation of them saying no) so i would just swap it out, couldnt even touch one that was in car it was so hot!!! Gear reduction one spins her right over!!!
When doing starter on one of these i find it easier to undo the hot at teh bolt below the battery and unplug from teh relay and drop starter wires and all! its easier to get to the but and spade on a bench!!!! point i was getting at here was that the hot nut was tight too!!

Anyways... problem solved!!!
