Air flow Meter Capacitor Trick

I've read about the "capacitor trick" in several places -- basically adding a 100 uF cap in the boot of the AFM connector to clean up an output signal which has various benefits.

I'm looking at cleaning and refurbishing the AFM I have and wondered if there would be any difference if I put the cap inside the AFM rather than outside? Looks like there is enough room for it.

do it and document it with step-by-step pictures. I've been hearing about it forever but I never did it. My car has not needed it.
