Default Anyone interested in a 1974 XJ12 Series II

One of my wife's clients passed away and his wife is looking to sell one of his cars. I haven't seen it but if anyone has an interest I can get some pictures and a good look at it. All I know at this point is that it' a '74 XJ12 and has some 29,000 miles. The exterior is supposed to be nice but the interior will need some work I'm told. Don't know if it's an XJ12L or not and I don't think the wife has a specific price in mind.

If interested message me.

Please post some pictures. 12 cylinder sedans are becoming more collectible than they were in the recent past. Also would help to know if it was converted to SBC power as many 12 cylinders cars were. Also would help to know the rust profile.

Default '74 XJ12 in Florida

As I told another member the car in north central Florida about 45-50 west of Gainesville. I need to get in touch with the owner as I have not seen the car and when I do I will get pictures and more details. My own XK8 is the garage for a short stay getting suspension and cooling system work done so it will probably be a few days before I can get those pictures. As soon as I do I will post back here with as much info as I can collect along with some idea as to what the owner would like to get for the car. As I understand it from the description my wife was given the exterior is supposed to be pretty good but there will need to be interior work done. Also it's only got about 29K miles on it so given it's age that mileage almost certainly means deterioration of soft parts, seals and gaskets, etc.

Default A short follow-up with more info on the '74 XJ12

I spoke with the woman looking to sell her late husbands XJ12 and unfortunately she had a slight mishap that resulted in a broken foot and broken shoulder and she is currently in rehab in South Florida and I won't be able to see the car for several weeks. I did get some further info though so here goes what little I know of the car.

It is a 1974 XJ12L with 29,000 original miles and has been a garage kept car throughout its life. It was in full running order when the owner passed away but for the last 61/2 years it has not been moved and may well have never even been started. It had one repaint in white but this was done before she married him and she doesn't know if it was a color change or not. Her estimate is that the outside of the car is very good but the interior leather is bad but just how badly I don't know and she probably doesn't know either in reality. She's asking $3500 as is and I felt no need to try to negotiate at this point having nothing to go on but her opinion of the cars condition. She didn't sound to me as someone who had a great affection or knowledge of this or any other car and my be relying on 'friends' for her estimate of its value. To be honest I don't claim any knowledge of that eras Jags either but I know that bringing a 45 year old car that has sat for years back to life is not an undertaking for the slim of wallet or time to undertake<G>

I told her to call me when she feels up to showing the car so all I can do is wait to see if she acts on it when she gets through with her rehab. If anyone has an interest still send me a PM in about 5 weeks (her estimate of the rehab period) and I'll try to get in touch with her again.
