Body Dolly

Hey gang,

Has anyone built a dolly to support their Series II car? I want to be able to drop out the rear end as well as the front cross member and skate the body tub around with ease.
thanks!
Mr. Solo..

DOLLY

A simple 2.5 x 2.5 steel square bar with swivel and rigid caster wheels works well on both front and rear. The same dolly can be used on the Mk2, XJ6, and other Jaguar frames.

BILL OF MATERIALS
  • 2.5 x 2.5 x 60 square steel bar 11 ga (need two)
  • 5.5 x 5.0 steel mount plates 7 ga (need four)
  • 5 x 2 rigid caster wheels with brake 800 lb capacity with 4 x 4.5 mounting plate and 6.5" height FOR REAR (need two)
  • 8 x 2 swivel caster wheels 1100 lb capacity with 4 x 4.5 mounting plate and 9.5" height FOR FRONT (need two)
  • fastening hardware: bolts, nuts, washers as required

Jaguar frame dolly

Weld on a plate at the end to mount the castor wheels. Rear wheels should be slight larger to enable the frame to remain roughly horizontal without a downward slope.

Front Dolly on XJ6

This dolly can easily transport the frame on a flatbed truck if needed. Also handy for painting the raw frame.
