Default Body gaskets

I've looked around the net for body rubber for our XJs, I haven't found any companies who have a very comprehensive list of rubber components.

Right now, I am looking for the gaskets that go behind the tail lights.

Can anyone recommend a good parts supplier?

Thanks

A part nuiber would help to no end, i looked in my parts manual and for the later triangle lights, the lens and gasket behind it have teh same number, i assume that means they come together, but the light assembly and and body gasket both say NSS, no clue what that means, maybe not sold separately! i know i have done nothing at all to answer your question, but most of the time i have the best luck finding parts if i have the number..

Sorry

I have lights out at the moment and will be hand cutting new ones from a sheet of 3.5mm gasket foam. $12 for a 750 x 1200 sheet at the local rubber supplier.Clark Rubber - Leaders in Foam, Rubber and Swimming Pools

I know it works as I use it at work all the time for oil seals (not high pressure)and chilled water insulation.
I'll post back how it goes in a few days when I get around to cutting them. I will also be buying some 1.5mm rubber tomorrow to make gaskets for the door handles.
If I can't get what I need for the door handles I will go a tyre shop and pick up an old inner tube.

Tail lights are still in because I have to drive it to the paint shop tomorrow.

These were never supplied separately and were glued-in as I recall. Bit of a nuisance now, of course !

I made gaskets for the tail light lenses today,it took about 15 minutes to hand cut the template and two gaskets. First I made a cardboard template off the original part, then used the template to cut the gasket. The right is the same as the left, only turned over.
I will be making the tail light to body gaskets, reversing light, number plate light and front indicators gaskets over the next few days.

Good job! It looks real good.

But the gasket I need is the one that goes between the light fixture and the car body. I have an old one, but it is damaged. It looks like it is made of a foam like material about 1/4" thick. Maybe I can find a sheet of polyfoam packing material and make one like you did.

I'm off to the rubber shop again today to get thicker stuff for the gaskets, only realised they were thicker when I started making them yesterday.

Default Here is the full set.

It cost me $26 for the materials, and took about 4 hours.(but I already had the lights removed from the car)

They don't look pretty but are functional and I will be the only one to see them. Probably a sizeable saving as one gasket for the rego plate light was going to cost me $21 plus postage.
