Borg-Warner 66 fluid and filter change
Dear friends, I am about to replace the fluid and filter and have purchased filter part number AAU7085J. I am a little concerned however, the one that has arrived does not have a cork gasket around the four fixing holes as I have seen on the net from another supplier.
I wonder if anybody would have the part number of this gasket so I could order it before I start removal. Any advice would be very welcome. Kind regards, Danny. |
Dear friends, I have just found the part number AAU2073 for the gasket. This looks like it is not available from the supplier of the filter so it looks like I will have to return it and re-order the part from SNG.
Kindest regards, Danny. |
Problem sorted, a replacement filter with attached gasket is being sent to me.
Apparently, the filters being made now do not include the gasket. One from old stock is on the way, I expect that the supplier will obtain some gaskets before they sell any of the new stock. Kindest regards, Danny. |
Good outcome.
Down here, the Filter Kit for the BW65/66 (same kit) comes with 2 filter gaskets in the package, The 65 needs 1 gasket, filter to valve body, the 66 needs 2, one on the filter, one on the spacer block. |
Oh, I do not have a gasket for the spacer block in that case. Is it important that it is replaced along with the others do you think?
Regards, Danny. |
It must have a gasket there, or it will suck air instead of fluid, not good.
Use one of the old ones, or make one from gasket paper. Both gaskets are the same shape etc. The spacer to valve body gasket is "usually" OK, and reusable, so you might be OK. |
Many thanks Grant, the top gasket was intact and resuable. All finished now, nice new G fluid installed. I was surpised however when I removed the sump, nearly all the 12 bolts were barely tight! I was amazed that there was no fluid leak over the years!
Kind regards, Danny. |
