Broken bonnet release cable-1994 XJ6 (Auto)

Please help!!!!

How do you open the bonnet of an XJ6 (1994) type Jaguar when the release cable is (appears to be) broken?

Jimmycruz posted a solution over in the XJR forum.

That is after you have tried manually pulling the cables with a pair of vice grips.
