BW Model 12 problems (XJ6 s1)
Dear All - does anyone else have BW12 problems when box is cold? Mine takes off in top gear, is generally hopeless until completely hot.
The car was sitting for 12yrs so I suspect something is sticky.
Once warmed up (after 10 miles!!), it is perfect

First things first, ALL my BW12 transmissions were behind the real engine.
I suggest a drop and refill of the fluid, leave the pan alone, with about 50kms between the procedure, including as many gear changes as possible, to work the valve body. That will slowly freshen the system without shocking it.
Check the Vac modulator, LHR corner of the trans,in from the rear, and easy to get at NOT.
The fact it is OK once at temp indicates the trans is basically sound.
That being said, they can be lazy suckers, and lack of use is NO friend to them.
Avoid flushes and additives for now, just simple Dex3 mineral, whatever brand is on special at SuperCreeps, Repco, etc etc.
