A/C Clutch

I have an 87 XJ6 which I just converted to R-134a (new compressor, dryer, etc), I also know that the amplifier was bad but haven't replaced it yet. However, I manually operated the limit switches to cooling until part arrives. My problem is this, while the compressor was cycling and the system was cooling right after the coversion, it has now stopped. I have checked the fuses in the box under the passenger side and they're okay. I've seen reference to an "inline fuse" somewhere under the dash but haven't found it.

According to the schematic I have been using, there is a green and tan wire that should have 12 v to engage the clutch but it doesn't. I have traced the wire that operates it back to the passenger side but have lost it trying to pick it up on the drivers side. The schematic says that it should go to the "thermostat", my question is where/what is this? The Haynes manual I am using doesn't have any pictures of this part so any description would be helpful. Any help would be greatly appreciated/
