Default Can anyone tell me what this connect to?

I try to update my dashboard lights to LED. And come across a connector not connect to anything. I can't see anything near for it to hook up to.
Anyone know what is that and where it connect to?

Not ringing an bells. How many wires, and what colors? I can't tell for sure. Is there anything not working?

Anyhow, it isn't unusual to find unused connectors. Jaguar often used wiring harnesses that were multi-market/multi-option ready so it might be for a particular option, or market requirement, that doesn't apply to your car.

Thanks Doug.
It is the connector with 1 white wire and 2 black with gray wires in the red circle.
I don't recall anything isn't working before I take it apart. The windows and the wiper are working really slow, I will try to clear the switch to see if it help.
Yes, perhaps it is for something that wasn't offer for the American market like the rear fog light...

the rear fog lights or 'rear guards' wiring would not be white or black wires, but blue with red stripe, and that wire is found in the headlights switch wiring harness. The location of this connector along the harness reveals its purpose more or less. Two possible connections are for the gooseneck map lamp fitted to Vanden Plas cars, or for the Neutral Safety switch and Speed Control combination switch. Download the S-57 Wiring Guide and you will find its purpose.

There was no "goose neck" map light fitted to the Vanden Plas cars...they have exactly the same map light as every other Series III XJ, so that is not it.

Quite possibly.... yes.

But.....maybe not.

The S57 guide is for USA cars primarily. It doesn't show *all* the wiring for *all* the different market variations. For example, it doesn't show any fog lamp wiring because none of the USA-market Series IIIs came with fog lamps....even though the wiring was installed on all the cars

Series III did have a dealer plug in port. Never figured what for, but they did have one for some sort of troubleshooting. At the shop I worked, we tried to read into whatever system they had but never had the right program. Looks like a white wire with a green/black, which to me, means a hot wire with a switched ground.

I have found another plugs that are not connected to anything. This time they are in the trunk. One set is on the left side with green plug, yellow, gray and black plug and a black ground. The other is a green with yellow plug on the right side near the ECU.

Ahhh yes, possibly for the "Epitest" machine? I totally forgot about that. I guess you could call it 'off-board diagnostics'!

It's mentioned in the manuals and wiring diagrams only for the V12 cars....but, then again, Jaguar documentation is often lacking.

Out of curiosity I'll see if my '85 has this same connector. I have the dash half-apart so it should be easy to find.

Cheers
