Default Car not starting

I was driving along and my car started puttering and died on the side of the road. I have a new battery and that's not that problem, I had 10 bucks worth of gas in it, and it had been running fine. I checked the fuel pump and it was turning on, and the spark is there. Any ideas?

If you have spark, then you have no fuel. Pump may sound like its working but may actually not be. It could also be clogged from debris in the tanks.

Like Gus says, check fuel pressure with gauge or replace fuel pump (you could be wasting money here if it's not the pump, but if it's an emergency...)

Check the filter first, it may have been squeeking by, then ultimatley clogged by that last tiny bit of "stuff" from the fuel tank.

So the 86 XJ6 has two tanks, and for some reason the left tank (which had gas in it) wasn't getting gas through. I went up to the gas station and got some fuel and put it in the other tank, worked like a charm. So you reckon their might be a clog?

Might be that the "clog" is in the form of the changeover valve in the trunk not allowing flow from the left tank. to the fuel pump

Cheers
