Climate Control Wiring Help 84 III

Hey Yall! I have a 84 III and it appears that someone wired the servo unit up wrong and the blower/Mode Control Switch wrong.. The blower runs on low when it is supposed to be of and on high on all the other switch positions. I have already fixed the servo assembly, one wire was off, I thought that would fix the continual running but it did not,, I diagrammed the wiring on the servo unit and hooked it up exactly the same,, same results,, I do know that all the relays function properly, I tested them for that and continuity. I have the wiring schematics but they do not point out what pins a particular wire is to connect to.. So I need the diagram for the Servo Unit and the Switch.. TIA Paul

all the relays? what "relays" are you referring to? the large four-relay relay on the driver's side? it sounds like crossed switch wires if someone messed with the wiring, or maybe a bad switch.

the servo can't easily be wired wrong because all the servo wires are in a plug that connects to another plug, so I can't see why anyone would even take the time to move wires around in those plugs. I would leave the servo alone, the servo controls the opening and closing of the vents, not so much the blowers or blower speeds, the switch and relay do that, so the problem must be the switch itself.

I would try substituting the switch first, you have David Boger near you, contact him for a good used switch and try that first. Everyday XJ

Not sure which diagrams you have but the "S57" schematics show the pin numbers:

(If you scroll down too far you get into the XJS diagrams so be aware of that!)

One thought....not sure if it means much but might merit research.....is that there is an early and late servo. My memory is a bit rusty but one switch was either added or deleted to the servo. If someone has swapped servos on your car with the wrong type......?

Cheers

Hey There.. The servo assembly, has approx 10 wires that push onto lug connectors on it,, now those wires do terminate at a white connector at the other end, but The push on wires plugs at the servo seem to be miswired or at the switch

Hey Doug.. I do have this schematic,, but the numbers on the schematic do not correspond to the listed numbers on the servo unit.. The Servo Unit numbers are, 1H, 11, 14,2H,2,3H,8,86,30/51,85,87,E.. Not even close to the schematic that you referenced to and the one I have.. I just need someone to look at their servo unit and list the wiring configuration...

try this schematic, this is the factory schematic that came with my 1984 when new:

if you can't zoom it, I can send you a large file by e-mail.

Jose! We have the same car, basically,, can you do a visual inspection of your relay pack, at drivers right knee, with the relays H1, H2 and H3,,, and give me a verification of your wiring there?

Mine is wired..

U/G - 11
Bk/W - 14
G/S - 2H
U - 3H
BK/Y - 8
BR/Y - 86
BR/W - 30/51
2 BK - 85
Y - 87
BK/U - E
R - 1H

Im using BR for Brown and Bk for Black for simplicity.

that requires some disassembly, a bright light, and I don't know when I can get to it, I have my cars in a dark storage unit. I might be able to do it next week.

ok, see if the attached helps you. I tried taking a close up picture but the flash ruined it.
