Converting Propane Powered V12 back to D-jetronic

All,

I own a 75 XJ12C which had been converted to run on propane. All of the gasoline components such as gas tanks, fuel pump, fuel rails, computers and map sensor.

I bought a 79 S2 XJ12 parts car this weekend which I'll have to part pretty soon. I plan on pulling the whole engine, computers, tanks etc before I scrap it. I'm worried about wiring. What else do I need to take?

Thanks

Al

I did that 20 years ago, NEVER again, fair dinkum tooooooo hard.

It will depend on how the propane set up was done. IF they simply unplugged the connectors and tucked them away, you are on really easy street. Ours had been cut off, and long gone. Total rewire needed, took 3 months.

If the donor car has to leave the world soon, take as much as you can, as some of the stuff for the D Jetronic is sooooo hard to find these days.

The list will be long, but those are what bounced around my old brain quickly.

Thanks Grant, i'm getting the parts car tomorrow and will update the group.

What will you do with the parts for the propane conversion?

More then likely sell them on, or build a heck of a barbecue :)

After you have removed all of the propane components, I will be interested in purchasing the whole shebang.

That's why I was asking what you were going to do with it...I may be interested in buying it...

I understand, I'll update this thread once i've gotten to the point where I'm to do the conversion. It's a big effort and I don't want to sell anything until i'm at a point where I can put it in a box and ship it.

Estimate on price?

Any update...?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a complete V12 drivetrain and just swap?

I'm not sure that I understand why it would. There's nothing wrong with the drive train. The engine runs great, it has a 700R4 conversion and the rear end is quite.

The propane is fed through the throttle body and therefore removing it from the intake, and removing the tanks should get rid of the propane kit.

I'll still need to install fuel tanks, computers, map sensors and wiring harnesses regardless of whether you swap the drive train or not so I won't be buying anything if do that.

How far along has the project progressed...or nothing?

Hi, aside from buying two parts cars , not much. But I will let you know when i get going.

Thanks for being patient.
