Coolant temperture

Wanting to check my coolant temp guage in the cockpit. What is the resistance range of the sender. Can someone direct me or send the data from the service manual ie resistance verses temp indication 82 S3 4.2L

From an old J-L posting

First column is temp in ºC and second column is ohms

55 255
60 210
65 177
70 150
75 128
80 110
85 92
90 73
95 62
100 55

I wish I was 100% positive about this info but I'm not, sorry.

If your test results are similar to above then the info is probably correct. If you have wildly different results I wouldn't condemn the sender predicated only on what I wrote above!

Cheers

Have an issue, but cannot figure out how to manage a new post: 2003 S type 4.2..temperature gauge goes off to cold... limp mode engages... no overheating... turn car off wait a few minutes... problem goes away ( guage works fine)...gauge appears to not be working for that time period... any thoughts on this one.. thanks wordman

Best to post your question in the S-Type section

Or another means to measure coolant temperature and compare numbers.

An IFR gun from HF for just a few bucks. Read at about the same place as the sender and compare.

Might even find an old capillary guage and plumb it in in lieu of the Jagensor and see what numbers it comes up with!!

Those IFR guns a great. I had doubt about the temp readings when I first got my car, and was quickly able to cheack reality against the readings and compare with other cars. Cheap as chips, and very handy.
