Default Early 90's Series III cars

I was reading threads on fixing my 87 series III when I came across some pages on rare early 90's V12 series III cars in Canada, UK etc.

One thing I noticed is that the radios for these cars look much like the radios in 1994 XJ40 cars and also the climate controls are similar to the last years of the XJS models

I thought it would be a nice upgrade to switch to the newer style radio and climate controls if the wiring was compatible with my 1987 and the fit was exact. I wonder if anyone has tried this or knows if the wiring is compatible between these rare early 90s cars and the more common 85'-87' cars?

Some might say it's a waste of time to put in a stock radio (even a slightly more modern one) but I have found having the stock radio rebuilt with LED lights, an external amp and an MP3 interface is a great way to go. If gives the factory look, more power and even a connection for an MP3 device in the console of glove box.

Never have done it but the radio swap couldn't be too difficult....might even be a direct plug-n-play.

The climate control systems (Delanair MKII versus Delanair MkIII) are quite different. It's not just a matter of different control panels. Not feasible to swap system unless perhaps the entire dashboard was removed from both door and recipient cars.

Cheers

I should have guessed there was more involved with a climate control swap given how involved these systems are. I may give the radio swap a try since my radio isn't in great shape.

Rich,

Not sure how good those radios were. The one in my dad's '88.5 XJ40 was replaced under warranty twice and fixed once out of warranty before he gave up on it.
I just put a Nakamichi CD400 in since I could change the lights to green and it doesn't have a Tokyo by night look like some of the others.

Default Series 111 Jags

Good day all, e21pilot's comment on reading info on early 90's series 111 Jags caught my attention. I would appreciate any suggestions as to where i could find info on my 92 Series 111 VDP, as a limited production model ( only 100 made & sold in Canada - so i am told) it is difficult to find much technical data . I still am unable to find the location of the fuse (ceramic) for my ABS and i have not been successful in finding wood panels to replace the dash & glove box. Would appreciat any help you can offer.
Cheers ELJAG

Do you know Gregory Andrachuk? If not, send him an email v12.vdp at gmail.com

He has owned 15-20 of the Ser III V12s, including several of the "100 cars" and knows them very well. I'm all but positive he can help you.

Mention my name.

Cheers
