Default Electric aerial wiring XJ12 Series II

Cannot seem to know which wires are for electric antenna. I am fooling about with a thick blue wire and a thick white wire in the truck but they do not lend themselves at the radio end any suggestions

Thanks in advance

Our S2 XJ12 (1976) came with a "semi-automatic" antenna, from new, and a spring loaded toggle switch between the 2 rear window switches on the centre console.

That switch was supplied with power independent of the radio, ignition from memory??.

When a replacement antenna and head unit, was fitted, the antenna came with a relay, so some rewiring was required to use the "new" head unit antenna wire, which only supplies very low amperage, for relay activation, not direct operation.

This was some 18 years ago, and the exact details of the rewire are long gone.

I reckon the 2 wires you got in the boot/trunk will appear in the centre console near the window switches.

A Jaguar of that year will have wiring looms built to the Lucas standard, so try this website: -

That is very insightful, as I do have a switch there that appears to have no purpose, so the antenna is operated manually independent of the radio.

I will run a new wire that goes from the antenna, under the carpet and ends at the radio point.

thanks for that
