Finally pulled the trigger
 

I joined the forum about a year ago when I found an X308 XJR. We didn't buy it, but I have spent the last year on the X308 board learning all about them. When we had our pennies saved and were starting to get serious, my wife saw a series II and mentioned that she really liked the classic body styles.

So, I started reading up on this board and decided if we were going to go classic, it needed to be a series I. The series II we saw was a lump and my wife said that she thought that would be a great idea because of the cheaper maintenance. (i've trained her well) So the hunt was on for a decent car that had at least one of the "big 3" (engine, paint, interior) sorted.

Well, found a great one on ebay not too far away in NV. and managed to win the bid. (sorry if I bid against anyone on the board).

As you can see from the pics, the interior, paint and engine are in good order. You can tell from how sorted the engine bay is that the PO (who is deceased) paid attention to the details. Along with the car, I got a notebook with everything he did to the car in the last 14 yrs including part numbers or year and car of the replacement part (ex. window motor from 72 Pontiac). I also have a file with the accompanying receipts.

I just drove the car home from NV (6.5 hrs) and it drives like its on rails, no slop in the stearing, no wandering , no shimmies, smooth as silk . It cruised at 75 on the freeway with no problem

I don't know what all the knobs and switches do, so I may asking a lot of questions. here's the pics:

Well Congratulations on your 'new' Series 1 Xj6!!

And, you have one with the Heartbeat of America as power plant! No blown head gaskets between 5 & 6 for you! No head bolts through the water jacket either. You have there, the Best of both worlds!

Being from the desert it should be virtually rust free. BONUS!
