Front seats

1978 XJ6 ser.2

I had the front seats redone, go to install them and have no idea how
to hold them down unto the seat brackets.

I have 2 small brackets about 2 inches long with a small screw attached
to the brackets. Anybody have any knowledge where those brackets go
to hold the seats down????

Thanks,
Walter

in the Series 3, there is a bracket that looks almost like a flattened "Z" and once you set the seat bottom into the frame, the bracket grabs the lip of the seat bottom exactly at the front center and under the seat's Frame round tube.

the screw goes right through the vinyl and screws into the screwable part of the bracket.

the bracket sort of prevents the seat from being pulled up, and from moving forward.

If you can post a picture of your two brackets I can tell you if they are similar to the Series 3 brackets.

Thanks, Jose!
That's exactly what I have, the threaded hole for those brackets must be hidden
behind the seat fabric .

I'm in Orlando Walter.

Here's two pics that might clarify the "system".

The first shows the finished job, I used a button / cap for the screw because I am sort of a perfectionist and a job is not finished until it is.

the second is a drawing of the bracket and how it attaches. Hope this helps.
