Seems not.

I am far from electric minded. but, I do have an idea.

You will need a variable potentiometer ands an ohm meter.

1. Connect the pot and meter to the guage. the ground side. Vary the ohm; from empty to full. Record. Now,. you know the ohm seep needed.

3. Use the meter at the sensor. It is a pot. measure ohms at fully down and the change as you sweep the pot up to the full position. Record.

How do the produced vs required numbers match? Close, we hope, huh?

This concept is at my outter limits of electrickery !

Thanks for the input. I was going to be replacing the fuel tanks with one fuel tank in the trunk. I am trying to figure out what ohms range level sensor I should use so the gauges read properly. The level sensors in the car are shot so I don't have anything to measure to compare.

Well, that simplifies the task.

Do, test number 1. on my post. Select the sensor for th tank that matches or at least comes close.

I missed numbered. Only 2. tests suggested.

My xj6 Series 1 reads between 25 and 260 ohms but the xj12 probably has a different calibration. Best to do what JagCad suggested and get the exact range of the gauge.

You might find this article helpful... most aftermarket fuel tanks use GM specs for their senders.. Jaguars gauge is much different but can be compensated for with a proper resistor or variable resistor. You can install and then adjust it after the fact by adding enough fuel to just move the needle from E... fuel tanks are important to know E but F is not as important as you can see that fuel or know the amount you just put in.

I noticed recently my 68 MGB has the same spec as the sender in my 88 XJS, so I would bet the XJ6 is at least similar.

Both are 20 to 220 ohms. I guess because regardless of the float and rod/lever length, the unit itself is the same patent/made similarly across many makes and models.

someone else already chimed in with a similar number, so thats a good sign.
