Default Fuel sender circuit

Got my brake MC converted to series 3. Now working on getting fuel senders to read on gauge.

I have measured about 130 ohms across one tank and 190 ohms on the other. But the gauge doesn't read anything with switch in either position.

Quck test is to short the tank sensor (full earth to gauge) and observe if you get full scale deflection on gauge. If yes , wiring/switch/gauge OK, and you may have dud sensors.

I shorted sender and got full deflection. I also found Bad trace on PCB. I jumpered it out and now get reading on gauge, however I question its accuracy. The PO removed the solenoid valves connecting the two tanks fuel lines together. The tank levels will self level so if the gauge reads fuel I'm OK, but when it's out its really out.

They are never accurate when old anyway it seems, the best I get is an indication of 3/4 when totally full, but its accurate at the bottom end which is all I care about atm.

Be careful with the joined tanks. If back flow vales aren't installed and you park on the side of a hill/slope, one tank can drain to the other and potentially create an overflow.

No personal experience , but it gets mentioned here from time to time.

Good point! Luckily I live in Indiana, totally flat. I hope to re-install valves someday though. Bigger items on agenda are replacing front and back widow seals and installing a four speed transmission.
