Fuel Tank Button Sticking...Help please!
Hello fellow Jag lovers!
Boy, it's been awhile. I haven't been on since Oct 12th!! I get busy when the holidays near with my business, and can't catch a breath until after the New Year. Anyhow, my fuel tank button sticks in and remains on the left tank unless I get needlenose and gently work it out. I've knicked the button, so I stopped doing it and just fill up every 10 gallons. Any help on how to lubricate or fix this some how??
Thanks so much!!

yes, spray wd40 thru all 4 sides and the heck with it, at this point you have nothing to lose by ruining it completely if you ruin it. Use the little red tube that comes with the can to inject the fluid.
if nothing improves, contact David at Everyday XJ and tell him to send you a replacement switch. He has them.
in theory, you can pull the switch out without having to dismantle the panel; The switch has two "spring" clips, one on top, one at the bottom, nothing on either side.
but it takes a lot of strength and leverage to pull it, and if you use large pliers, you end up crushing the plastic switch into pieces, bad idea.
here's my idea: Put some heavy duty winter gloves, find a .009 or .010 gauge guitar string at your local music store; Buy Safety Goggles at your local autoparts store; When working in a car, you need to protect your eyes.
Wrap the ends of the string around both gloved hands, until you have about 3 inches left between both hands; Now slide the string under the bottom edge of the switch and start pulling it, easy does it. See if it moves out. Try it on the top edge, one side is always the "weak side". If no cigar, then I'm afraid you will have to pull the panel and then work the switch out from behind, and that is not a very easy or fast job.
The picture below shows the two spring clips that need to be compressed to allow the switch to come out.
