Headlight Confusion

Hello !

I have a 83 Jaguar XJ6 " Vanden Plas " I need info on my headlights....which lights are suppose to be on in low and high beam. Do all four come on inhigh beamand just the outer inlow beam ? That is what I have now ?
The high beam indicator light comes on when they are in low beam "outer lights " ?I have not owned this car very long and and I noticed that someone has re-wired the headlights. The headlight fuse panel has been by-passedwith in-line fuses for some reason?

I would appreciate any help ? Thanks !

RE: Headlight Confusion

High beams light all four. The re-wiring was done because the contacts in the left inner fender fusebox corrode frequently. Look for the silver relay under the coolant header tank, that's for the headlamps. From memory, I think if you swap the blue/ red and blue/white connections, you will get the high beam indicator to sync up with what the light are doing.

GREAT !
I will work on that tonight and I appreciate the information ! I thought the lights werecorrect but the high beam indicator being onthrew me off. That makes sense about the fuse panel being bypassed...that was a easy fix I guess but I prefer the right way. After all, it is a Jaguar !

Thanks !!!

RE: Headlight Confusion

Hey again,
I swapped connections like you suggestedbut no luck. I actually swapped all theconnections on the relayaround but still nothing ? I will just have to dig deeper starting with where someone re-wired the fuse panel.
Atleast I know the lights are working right but just the high beam indicator is wrong ?

Any other suggestions ? I appreciate your help !
