Im driving home tonite and my lights went loco. when i put my lights on, my left high beam was slightly illuminated. When i put the beams on, neither of my left 2 headlights worked. I had a similar problem b4, but my mechanic fixed it. This time around im goin to fix. Any recommendation s as to where i should start

Likely poor connections.

Clean the grounds for the headlamps (either side of the radiator) and clean all the fuses, fuses clips, and bullet connectors at the headlamps fuse box

thanks doug. And that be the fuse underneath my steering wheel ? Or the one in the engine bay..left fender side?

the headlights fuse box is located next to the Coolant Filler Tank, Driver's side, engine compartment, a little 5 fuse fusebox with a plastic cover, usually black or sometimes clear plastic. 4 fuses are one for each of the 4 headlamps, 1 fuse is for the auxiliary cooling fan mounted below the front bumper.

steal your wife's emery nail file and clean the brass contacts shiny.

doghead08: you welcome! women are a great source of tools for working on Jaguars, from nail files to compact mirrors, to nail polish to touch up paint, of course I will not be caught in the nail polish aisle, I've always sent her with a color sample to match it.

an emery nail file is made of cardboard, not metal, women use them for shaping their nails, they feel like sandpaper, but are a lot less coarse than sandpaper. They work great for cleaning fuse holder contacts.

Problem solved. @ jose- got my hands on an emery nail file..cleaned the fuse box connectors, the grounds and walla......works fine.

no more loco headlights for a while!

Autozone sells little packets of dielectric grease called "Connector Protector" in a light blue package. I use the dielectric grease in areas where there is moisture, like in the engine compartment, relays, wire connectors at the horns, light bulb sockets in the front, sidelights, prevents the greenish corrosion that forms when cars are stored and also protects from rain.
