Likely poor connections. Clean the grounds for the headlamps (either side of the radiator) and clean all the fuses, fuses clips, and bullet connectors at the headlamps fuse box Headlamp Circuit Checklist Cheers DD |
thanks doug. And that be the fuse underneath my steering wheel ? Or the one in the engine bay..left fender side?

The one in the engine bay. Read the checklist....all is revealed :-) Cheers DD |
the headlights fuse box is located next to the Coolant Filler Tank, Driver's side, engine compartment, a little 5 fuse fusebox with a plastic cover, usually black or sometimes clear plastic. 4 fuses are one for each of the 4 headlamps, 1 fuse is for the auxiliary cooling fan mounted below the front bumper.
steal your wife's emery nail file and clean the brass contacts shiny. |
thanks jose. im not sure i know what an emery nail file is, but knowing my wife she definately has one.
and thanks for the heads up doug. im reading the checklist as we speak. i will be able to recite it better than linclon can recite the Gettysburg Address |

an emery nail file is made of cardboard, not metal, women use them for shaping their nails, they feel like sandpaper, but are a lot less coarse than sandpaper. They work great for cleaning fuse holder contacts. here's the 1984 headlamp fuse box description that came with my 1984 from the factory when new. |
Thanks jose...u da man

let me know if I can be of any other help. WARNING: for a no-start condition, you'll need Doug, he knows the routine by memory, I'm just a Trial-n-Error Nician, sometimes I guess right! |
Problem solved. @ jose- got my hands on an emery nail file..cleaned the fuse box connectors, the grounds and walla......works fine.

no more loco headlights for a while!
Autozone sells little packets of dielectric grease called "Connector Protector" in a light blue package. I use the dielectric grease in areas where there is moisture, like in the engine compartment, relays, wire connectors at the horns, light bulb sockets in the front, sidelights, prevents the greenish corrosion that forms when cars are stored and also protects from rain. |
