Help picking colours please!
Red? What was I thinking?!
I stripped off as much of the colour as I could with paint stripper. Then I ordered a Leatherique 2 oz. steering wheel kit in Warm Charcoal (LEG) (to match my XJS' interior). Applied the prep and dye, and vôilà! A nice looking fascia. And after all that abuse the piece still smells like new leather.
That Leatherique stuff is kind of magic. I'd use it again.
Also, the lower console was too ugly for a Jag, the way the cupholders were sticking up. So I am making a new one--pics to follow.

Anjum I considered this but the leather is perforated by the texture and therefore not spill-proof. So I'll stick with a solid piece that can be wiped clean down around the cupholders.
Ah! I understand.
I have got admit I'm thinking of replacing the vinyl bits in mine with soft leather (collected some bits cut out of a leather sofa in a cream colour so should be able to dye it darker, I may just buy some leather at the end of the day) .
Got to start the restoration first though.

The cupholder area worked out much better this time. It isn't quite up to Jaguar fit and finish but I believe I now have something I can live with.

*Much* better, Greg!
Before, they looked like something one might find in a lifted 4X4 out in the back woods somewhere.
In short, they looked like an afterthought. These look deliberate. Even I might be able to live with these -- IF I ever allowed drinks in my car.

i have a spare one in my box-o-parts... may do it up just like that as the wood on mine although pretty has been beaten up over the years with the removal and installation of the switches and trip computer..
Its nice and subdued looking!! the top panel that it, still futzing with cupholders and diff ideas!

The black looks good, I did not want to comment on the red
I do appreciate that different folks have different tastes and applaud personalization touches.
For my taste, original wood is the 1st preference, and leather/vinyl that matches the texture and grain of the dash would be next.
