Exclamation HELP!!! XJ6 SIII 85 High Pressure Fitting on PS Pump, best way to tighten? BIG MESS!

XJ6 SIII 1985. PS Fluid BIG MESS!.
The High Pressure Fitting on PS Pump came loose a hundred miles after the garage mechanic had installed the new hose.
There is very little wrench access due to metal sheild on bottom and sides.

Is there some kind of special wrench to go onto the fitting?

What is the, best way to get access to tighten the fitting?

Do I have to disengage the belt tensioner and swing the PS Pump outward?

Should I take off the low pressure hose first to make space?

Kindly suggest best procedure for installation of High Pressure Line behind PS Pump.

Help!!! Jag shot Power Ssteering fluid all over building driveway and garage space.
What a giant mess I had to clean up. Can't drive it as it is.
Must find a reliable solution to make sure this does not happen again.

Thanks in advance for assistance. Good day.

It's been years since I even took a close look at a Ser III pump arrangement but I think you'll have to remove the pump from the bracket, pull it forward, then attach the hose. Hopefully having the pump off the bracket will allow you to get a good purchase on the fitting and tighten it down. Make sure the o-ring hasn't been damaged or lost.

Hopefully someone will come along with recent experience (or a better memory) and provide an easier alternative.

If you paid a mechanic to replace the hose I think I'd expect him to tow the car back to the shop and make things right.

Cheers

Would a flare wrench work with a flex head for tightening? aka tubing wrench.
Flex head is a special order tool, but that would be easier than taking the pump off.

What size is that fitting?
Thx Doug, for the hint.
