Hi everyone

Hi there just thought I would introduce myself. Me and my dad have just recently aqquired a 1998 jaguar xj6 4.0 auto. We have both wanted one for years and took the plunge. It has a few problems but looking forward to getting it on the road and hopefully meeting some of you girls and guys at some events? We are having a problem with auto box as it keeps slipping in drive but works in all the other gears. We have not got a clue what it could be so going to replace the gearbox I think. Apart from that it's a lovely solid motor! I hope I put this post in the right place and look forward to conversing with you all... Many thanks

Hi Hartlepooljag,

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, we in the Series 3 XJ6 part of the forum are happy to chat with you, however, you have a much later model XJ6.

In fact, if you have a V8 4 litre, then it is most probably an X308 XJ6 which in the timeline of XJ6's is after the X300 and the XJ40 which in itself followed on from the Series 3's in this area.

Apart from four round wheels on the ground and a steering wheel there aint much in common with 'ours' and 'yours'

Good luck finding more info on your gearbox travails.

Cheers,

Nigel

The XJ6 owners are a friendly bunch. You may not have received such a warm welcome in some of our current models forums. :icon_lol:

I can see you've found your way to the relevant model forum now and also posted an Intro so no need for any prompting from me.

Graham
