Hinge Spring XJ6

See attached photo of a rear door hinge, bottom.
Does anyone know how to remove the spring?

never done it but if you securely bolt the hinge to a solid surface like a tree, then use a large pry bar on one side of the "U" to push down on the spring, it should slide down enough to come out.

use goggles for protection in case that thing comes out flying.

John:

I know how to remove t! I'm usually good at those things. It is the put t back that stalls me often! "Joke"

Cut it off with a grinder. Caveat, secure it or release the energy first.

Seriously. Might the spring come out easily the hinge is in the closed position?

It's the spring I need to replace one thats broken...

it's probably a lot easier to go to a salvage yard and pull one from a salvage XJ.

Jose is exactly right...
Just secure it and use a large pry bar to push down on it.. It has enough flex to come off the hinge...
It's a lot tougher to get the new one in place... And remember the location exactly, as they can be put on upside down and backwards...
