Hood - hinge adjustment

My hood/bonnet is unevenly gapped either side, and although it closes properly on the catches the uneven gaps are obvious and aesthetically annoying. I need to shift the hood at least 2-3 mm to the left, and the workshop manual vaguely implies that adjustment at the hood-to-hinge bolts should be possible. Having slackened off the 3 bolts each side, the holes in the hinge bracket appear to be a snug fit rather than oversize to enable adjustment.

Can anyone please confirm if there is meant to be adjustment at the hood-to-hinge points, or is it only possible from the hinge-to-body mountings underneath?

Yes, Tony, I can confirm the hood-hinge connection is where you adjust fitting.
You want the hood unlatched for this adjustment, and 2 of the 3 bolts on each side rattling loose, while the 3rd one is snug but allows movement.

The plate on inside the hood that the bolts thread into may be stuck to the inside of the hood and require some encouragement to let go.

From there it's trial and error until you're satisfied.

Consider removing the grill, 6 bolts or there abouts. This will give access to the hinge bolts with out the force of weight and tension of the spring when the hood is closed for proper vertical adjustment. Horizontal and some vertical adjustment is done at the point where the hinge bolts to the frame rail.

Thank you Elinor and icsamerica...

Elinor, I had wondered if it may just need more persuasion. Even with bolts slackened off I was reluctant to force it in case adjustment wasn't possible. I'll give it another go!

Icsamerica, I had the grill off recently for another purpose, pity I didn't do this job at the same time! Enabling access to the bolts without tension and weight is a good idea. Since I only need lateral adjustment, hopefully I won't need to undo the hinge/body mountings.
