How to adjust front door lock linkage?
After only 45 years the locks were gone.. the drivers door outer barrel had deep grooves in it from the pins.. had to wiggle the key to find the spot that would open/close the door.
I replaced both front locks with brand new NOS locks.. the passenger door works perfectly. I replaced the missing plastic push pins with rod clips that were missing or worn out... all seems to be in place and adjusted properly.
The drivers doors lock works to turn the rod from one extreme to the other, but even "when locked" I can push the door button and the door will open.
This happens both with the outside key lock and what Jaguar calls the "remote lock" on the inside of the door.
I think something else is worn out after only 45 years but I am seeking anyone else's answer that might have had the same problem.
Am going to purchase a new inspection mirror tomorrow so I can look at one area of the door linkage... the tab may be badly worn out...

Removed the striker and all the clips holding the linkage into the door... found that a piece needed to be bent to allow clearance.
Cleaning an lubing freed up things and all is perfect again.. ready for another 45 years.
