Hey i'm looking to replace the speakers and receiver in my 1995 Jaguar XJ6 4 door sedan and the stereo fitting kit I found as well as others only claim to work with non amplified models (see link below).
How can I find out if mine is amplified or not? I have a 6-CD changer in the boot but I'm not sure if that counts as amplified (also it's not as if the CD changer works/even can turn on, you can see two unconnected wires). The radio used to occasionally/randomly play through one (maybe more than one I'm not positive) speaker in the rear left door and now is completely unresponsive (even with the ipod tape adaptor which worked just like the radio). I really want to fix this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The amplifier, if you have one, will be plainly visible when you open the trunk. It is mounted (roughly speaking) to the underside of the package shelf

Check out the S1 with (12) speakers and two amps... one just for the bass.

 

Have you removed the head unit yet? what wiring do you have coming from the head unit?

I recently replaced mine and found it had a small amplifier unit just floating around in the centre console, so weird stuff can happen.
