Input please!!!! on my 76XJ12L
Does anybody have any info on the difference between an XJ12L and a regular XJ12? Last summer I purchased a 1976 XJ12L with a 350 conversion. The conversion had been done professionally and the body was perfect with the exception of a small rust spot (about a .25 coin size), the interior needs pretty much to be totally redone at least in my opinion because I want it to look as if it was brand new. Other than that it's in really good shape. I believe it was a steal at a $1000. Well now I face the dilemma of whether to start restoration or not. See.....I see XJ12s on Ebay all the time for about $4500-to $9000 which is what I'd be willing to spend on the restoration. I would like to know if the XJ12Ls are more rare than the XJ12s. Mine has a factory sunroof/moonroof. If that were the case maybe it'd be worth going through the time of restoring it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated it. [:-] |

As far as I know, the L simply refers to Long wheelbase. The L cars have a lot more leg room in the rear seat.
Are they more valuable? Hard to tell. A '76 is probably Series II, and I think all the Series III had the long wheel base. Jim T |
