Jaguar xj6 20 inch rims
so I'm new here and first time posting so i hope I'm doing this correctly. i purchased a 87 xj6 vander plas and want to up grade the rims with larger ones but don't know if it will be to big. the rims i like come in 20s and 19s and the rim shop said the 20s would be fine but i don't want to look like I'm driving in a monster truck with the 20s. does anyone have any ideas or recommendations? would the 19s be to large also with a low profile tires?

Garcia, not sure how to link an old comment of mine (look for "Rim Options on an 84 VDP") but I was able to make 18"X8.5" work just fine without spacers, but you will have to be very careful of the offset and the tire size, different on front/rear. My tire shop was very accommodating and we tried (fit and drove on several sizes) to make it finally work. I see another link and you are trying to lower it as am I but not there yet, but this will likely complicate the effort.

Daryl thank you.. It def helps me out. There trying to sell me 20s but I feel it's to large of a wheel. As for the lowering I see a lot of people talking about king coils to lower there jags.

That whole wheel game is for people with too much money.
The people who designed the car must be rolling over in their graves when they see some person making graffiti out of a classically styled piece of machinery... sort of like putting a beanie (with multi colored propeller) on a gorilla. NOT cool.
now if he spent some money on hydraulics and could turn the car into a jumping bean (bounce the hell out of it until it demolishes itself....

the thing is you can do a lot with the size of tire you choose to run, stock tire and rim height is around about 26.75 - 27 inches. that leaves you with about 7 inches of sidewall, so thats in turn about 3.5 inches of side wall on the tire. a 235/40/20 is about the same size height wise as the stock tire so it will sit normally. now if you dont value you spine you could run a 245/30/20 which would end up being lower than the stock tire height but would ride terribly
