Jaguar xj6 sunroof adjustment
 

My jaguar xj6 sunroof dips in the passenger rear and doesn't seal all the way. I have adjusted many times with no luck. Is there any tips on making adjustments easier? Also, it has a new seal too.

I'm fighting with an adjustment issue too, and it happened after replacing the seal too. Should have left the old seal alone. I believe the problem is the new seal, fortunately, I saved the old one. There is a page in jaglovers that Doug posts here but it does not address the issue that I have. Sorry I cant offer any help.

Also I seem to recall that the replacement weatherstrips were a slightly different shape/contour/configuration than the originals....less pooofy for lack of a better term. This means that, no matter how you slice it, the sliding roof much be readjusted so as to ensure firm contact between the rubber and the body of the car.

Ok so I had/have the same problem with the new seal from URO and I have found that the only way to get that gap at the front of the panel to close, is to set the height adjustment blocks to the lowest setting and then when the panel is closing you have to help the panel along with a decent amount of force and it will seal all the way on the front. That is the only way I have found has worked. hope this helps someone who finds this.

I removed the replacement sunroof seal and refitted the original seal. Got tired of messing with it. The moral ? don't throw away old parts unless they are unusable.

The new seal can be adjusted in the front of the sunroof.
Loosen the tiny phillips screws that hold the seal in place, pull out the seal as far as possible and then close the sunroof.
The roof will then put the seal in its correct position.

Re-tighten the screws and you are all set...

Mine was 100% fixed with a new seal and changing the height of the black plastic bit that raises up the rear. I my case part of the problem was how far the front could get forward, which dictated how far up the rear could rise and this was even influenced by how old the seal was.
Finally, after messing with it the front didn't seem to seal as well as before in the center, and this was due to the panel getting worked flat. I put a bit of a bow back in the center by smacking it while it was attached and it went back to normal.

After I painted my Series 3, I installed a new sunroof seal because the old one was broken and leaking.
The new seal leaks even more. After spending hours trying to adjust the sunroof, I resolved the problem with a tube of silicone sealant.
I guess I don't need the sunroof open. I have good AC and if I need fresh air I've got 4 working windows.
Maybe in the far future I will remove the silicone and try again with a new seal.
For now, no leaks

I was able to adjust it closer than shown in the above picture but it continued to leak on the backside of the sunroof. Right now it is adjusted level with the hood, but does not close all the way, even after droping the headliner and adjusting the sunroof frame all the way forward. The real problem is the aftermarket seal. It is not "poofy" enough. This picture was taken last year prior to making any adjustments. I had just finished buffing the paint. Nice and shiny.
