Jaguar XJC Coupe 1976 (would interrior from 4 door Series 2 fit to coupe)?
Dear Jaguar Lovers,
I am currently thinking about purchasing a body of XJC (car on the wheels but with the interrior).
I was wondering if you could help me to establish whether seats from 4 door XJ6 Series 2 would fit to coupe?
Since 4 door version doesn’t have folding front seats I am assuming that it won’t be possible to make enough space for the passangers to jump inside the car unless I use special brackets to mount the seats?
Many thanks for your help,
Marcin

Series2 interior to XJC
Marcin, the XJC was based on the short wheelbase Series1 .The S2 rear seat squab may need shortening, and none of the doors or side trim will fit..The front seats can be modified with difficulty to allow forward tilt.
This may require engineering certification as it is a modification possibly occupant safety, otherwise, fitting longer travel base adjusters may allow enough forward movement..Rear seat access for larger persons is not easily achieved. Compare the distances from the dash face to the rear window on the car centerline to get a feel for the difference between the two car lengths .The short wheelbase disappeared with the Series 2. If the driver is tall, there will remain limited space for an occupant in the driver's side rear seat. Perhaps selecting other maker's seats for the front would work better.

Hi James,
Thanks for your support.
So buying a donor (4 Doors XJ6 Series 2) doesn't resolve the problem. Although I could use the engine and the gearbox, I wouldn't be able to use the seats and use any interiors.
This makes the situation complicated as I have no idea where I could find XJC seats or which other maker's seats would fit as an alternative to original ehh ...
There seem to be side trims and it looks that only carpet and seats are missing from the interior, but the dashboard and all door casings are still included so it should be possible to refurbish them.
The car as it looks in the photo will cost 2500 GBP.
The donor XJ6 Series 2 will cost 3500 GBP
Welding/car body repair + spraying will cost around 3 000 - 4 000 GBP.
The interior refurb will cost around 1 000 GBP
Then I will need to swap the whole engine, gearbox from Series 2 (don't know what would be the price ... ).
Do you think it is still worth doing the work even if it will add up to around 10 000 - 13 000 GBP?
Thanks,

My honest opinion?
Let it be!
This car is heavily overpriced at 3000 quid: No engine, no gearbox, no interior, a puzzle to say the least, a LOT of dents and rust.....don't go there....
Restoring this even to MOT standards would take years of labor and a LOT of money.
Even when fully restored, it will not sell for the money it needs to get there...not without the original engine, gearbox and interior.....matching numbers is the key when it comes to restored Jags (or all other old-timers for that matter)...
I think your estimate of 10 - 13 thousand pounds is way to low......triple that and then we are talking business.....
I bought my S3 V12 for €2,500 and put in an additional 7,500 (all parts, no labor) to get it where it is now....and believe me, it was in a much better state than this granny...
