You are in the wrong forum; this list is for the XJ up to 1987 for the 6 cylinder and 1992 for the V12. You want the "x300" list (x300 is the factory code for your car).

Actually, as this is a UK post, I suspect the car is an X350 series made of aluminium, like my car. If it is, then post in that forum. FWIW, I have no idea how to pair a new key fob, as the last time I bought one, the dealer did it.

Yes, you are right - 2003 XJ can be an X350 in the UK - thanks for catching that. Wrong forum in any case. But it is the dealer that must pair the key fob to the car's system.

Key fobs. Interesting toys , My 94 Jeep has that feature. when it came to me, the fob did not. I found one on E bay. It came with a typed note as to how to sync it. The Jeep manual also had instructions. Not quite the same !!! Nevertheless, I got it to work. Then the batteries shut down. I found new ones. A bit pricey, but at the wrong place. I managed to split the case and it took an inordinate time to figure out hw to place the two coin like batteries and the spring. Got it. It worked. Achoo, it eats batteries. Set aside.....
