Low Torque: Sludge?! HELP! JL73...

hey Jaguar fans,

I've got a problem with my 84 jaguar XJ6. Every time I accelerate my Jag starts off very slow. I push the pedal all the way down and the I can hear the engine going all out, however, it doesent haul ass. I know jags arent fast cars, but damn, not this slow. i have to slowly accelarate little by little to go at least 40 mph. it dosent have a problem going on the express way, however, i tend to stay on the farthest right lane. If I go above 60mph, my car starts to wiggle and rattle. maybe its the suspension. So wussup guys? any ideas on what I should check for?
One more thing...I always have to drive with the windows down because HOT AIR just spills out of the de-frost vents by the windshield it sucks in the summer. Im guessin my vents are open or my engine is ****en hot.

Oh yah...one more thing: about a week ago, I was driving down the high way and a shit load of smoke starting gushing out of my mufflers. I stopped the car and noticed that it was coming from the under-middle of the car, near the catalytic converter.

Yo JL73 help me out yeah

this explains being sluggish and probably your shakes and rattles..... I don't know anything about Jags but I do know catalytic converters..... you shakes and rattles may also be due to suspension but a plugged cat will also give this sympton
