My A/C compressor actuates but no cold air.
Hello,
I am a recent purchaser of a 1986 jaguar xj6. My air conditioner was cold when i first purchased the car but now it is not blowing cold through the vents. The A/C clutch engages and have had the A/C serviced to check level and refrigerant is full. I am suspecting a possible blend door issue or ? This is my first jaguar and I like the car but temp`s can reach 115 degrees F in my area. If anyone out there can give me a good jumping off point for testing I would greatly appreciate it.
-Hank

OK, to start the ball rolling.
At the rear of the engine is the heater tap. It is vac operated from vac coming via the internal system.
Reach in there and work that tap lever manually. It is in the "down" position for ON, and this is also the lever default position with the engine OFF. IF, and I mean IF the lever works with hand pressure, start the engine and turn ON the A/C system and observe that the tap lever moves to the UP position, thus shutting off the hot water to the system inside the car. These taps also fail "internally" and the lever may work, but the inside is stuck on "open", so be prepared to replace it anyway.
Also check that the small vac hose is intact and that there is a small amount of vac in that line with the engine running. Simply put your finger over the end of that hose and that will indicate vac is present or not (engine running obviously).
That is a simple look see, and the most common failure on this system.
