Need help diagnosing HVAC problems (it's dead)
The HVAC on my '83 XJ6 doesn't work. Turning the fan selector doesn't turn on the blower motors, and turning the other knobs also doesn't seem to make any noise or causing anything to change.
Is there a list of things to check first? (Where are all the fuses?) I have a multimeter and a spare AC amplifier that is supposedly from a working climate control system in a XJ6. |
Fuses are a good place to start.
There should be two in the RH fuse box....can't remember the fuse numbers off hand There's another clipped to the side of the climate control case, behind the RH cheek panel of the console. It'll be on the brown/yellow wires The fourth is on the amplifier ground wire, behind the LH cheek panel With the fuses bear in mind that they don't have to be blown to be inoperative. Dirty/corroded end caps or a broken wire under the end caps are common...as are corroded fuse clips/contacts If that checks out go ahead and try the amplifier. No need to remove the old one. Just unplug it and plug-in the new one Cheers DD |
Thanks, I have to connect the ground of the amplifier, right?

I'm hoping it's just fuses. :D

Well, I put in the missing A/C compressor clutch/relay back in, and the HVAC slowly but surely started working! After a few minutes, the blow motors were blowing hard and the heat was coming out of both sides! Fantastic!
Thanks everyone!!! |
