Default New question

Hello -

I recently bought a 1987 series III XJ6 and was wondering what the normal engine temperature should be for these cars? Mine is running at about 90c and seem to be running hot to me - do you think I should flush the radiator?

Thanks

Normal is 88-90ēC. The aux fan comes on at 94ēC.

A cooling flush (and all other routine service items) is a good idea just on general princples with a newly purchased used car....unless records indicate was recently done.

If you're really ambitious you can remove the radiator to clean it *externally* as well. The fins are usually clogged with leaves and debris.

Cheers
DD
