New rotors don't fit
Replacing the worn out rotors, sourced some new ones that stated "from 10/86". My 87 Jag XJ-6 has a build date of 3/87, so I figured it should be good.
Trying to install them, I find the big center hub hole does not fit over the hub. Compared to the old rotor, the hub hole is about 3mm smaller in diameter. Anybody run into this? I got the rotors for cheap on a closeout from a reputable online supplier. Hoping they will accept a return. |
Are you in the USa with a USA market car?
I guessing that you have a Ser III XJ6 but got rotors for the later "XJ40" style of XJ6, which hit the market in the fall of '86 in some parts of the world...as a "1987" model. The XJ40 type was introduced to the USA in late of 1987 as a "1988" model. Many parts vendors/listings do not take into account that the older style Series III XJ6 remained in production into calendar year 1987 for the USA market. In fact some so-called "Jag experts" don't realize this, either. March '87 was the last month of production for the Ser III XJ6 so your is one of the very last ones Cheers DD |
You're exactly right, I did some cross checking of the part numbers, and I received XJ40 parts. My car is a Series 3. Thanks for your help.
