Default Nicole Kidman Drives an XJ in Jaguar Chase Scene from ‘The Invasion’

I'm always on the look out for a good Jaguar chase scene, and I just stumbled across this one from The Invasion. I posted about it on the blog, but you can watch the clip below.

Poor old lady. Nicole doesn't come off as a heroin at all. She would probably call 911 if there was a spider in her bathtub.

Nah Mate. She's an Aussie! From one of the largest outback cattle empires in the country too. So she'd be no stranger to shaking the Scorpions & Spiders out of her boots before slipping them onto her dainty little tootsies in the morning, when camping in the Bush.
Poor old Jag gets quite a flogging in that clip. I wonder how many cars they destroyed, & how much of it's CGI.

Hard to pick up much detail, but the X300 starts out as a Jag complete with its leaper on the hood, then appears to morph into a Daimler based on the fluted chrome boot lid plinth in a later shot. So maybe they used a few cars!

Good eyes. It would make sense they used a few cars!

Yeah, pretty or not, I'd bet she's pretty tough. Ha ha!

They usually do. The Dukes of Hazard is supposed to have killed over 300 Chargers, though many of them were mock ups, which their own panel shop churned out. & the famous chase scene from Bullit would've used up a few Mustangs & Challengers. In fact the more beat up a car gets in an action sequence the more of them they'll need to wreck to get the right shot. Though CGI has probably reduced that attrition rate considerably, thank goodness!

Supposedly, the one and only 68 Mustang in Bullit survived and was sold as a mere used car.

I'll have to check that out. It seems like they've rebooted Spider Man like five times now? Ha ha.

I've heard that too. I don't think they cared as much back in the day, and it's fair to assume nobody knew how iconic that chase would be.

Always great to see a car I own as a main character in a movie. Haha!
According to IMCDb.org (https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_115230...X300-1995.html) and comments from someone who bought a car from the movie, they wrecked two Jag (sad face) and bought five total. It is interesting to see the changes in the machine in different scenes, however it's clear any casual observer wouldn't notice, like any film.

Great share!

I know X300’s are super reliable but geez, that car was as tough as a Panzer tank! :-)

Thanks for the cool post and if anyone finds a clip of the Series III from Spider-Man, I hope it gets posted.

Johnny, I posted the link on the X300 and X308 pages and credited you. I hope you don’t mind!
