Nix Stole Another Heart
 

Today was an absolutely Lovely fall day in the North Valley, and it was also our regular Shopping day. As usual we stopped at our favorite deli for lunch. As I uncoiled myself from the driver seat in a new Pink Python print shirt (I do Love Python print! I think they are among the most beautiful of all God's creatures) I noticed a nondescript SUV wandering around the lot but I paid no attention, thought maybe they were as picky about where they park as I am.

We had no more than sat down when one of Staff came over and said to me (I wonder how she recognized me ;) ), "That's a Really snazzy car! I was just leaving as you were coming in and had to come back around for a better look. What is that anyway?"

"1976 Jaguar," I said. Husband chimed in, "She keeps it up very well"
She continued, "It shows! Do you work in it yourselves?" glancing at both of us.

Again husband spoke up, "She does ALL the work on it!"

She got that astonished look on her face I've come to recognize, so I said, "I have deep trust issues so I don't allow anyone to touch it except the SMOG techs and tire installers."
She replied, "Just like with our children, huh." (?? smog techs and tire installers for the children? :p)

So later when we left, I had to tell Nix all about it. She Loves hearing about these things.

Great story, glad Nix is receiving praise befitting of her condition.

I too trust nearly nobody when it comes to mechanical work. Years ago I bought a used BMW 540i (of the famous E39 variety) which I enjoyed dearly. It was an excellent car that had a replacement engine installed at some point during its life. While doing some maintenance one day, I noticed that some of the Torx bolts holding the bellhousing to the block seemed a bit loose. I inspected all of them and found at least a half dozen that were only hanging on by a few threads. No doubt a careless technician at a non-specialty shop that had forgotten to torque them.
