in Heat mode, temp knob at 85 Farenheit, no air comes out through the center vent, only through the side dash vents and through the two vents on each side of the transmission. The center dash vent only opens when the temp knob is under 75F.

Hi all, I thought I'd take a chance and post a reply on this thread. I've been going though the same issues with my heat also. Was wondering if someone knew where I could get a new climate control amplifier, in case I exhaust some of the other tests. All I could find were used ones. Thanks in advance for the info

If I get in the car at first in cold weather I can get heat (not real Hot) but heat just the same. The vents switch correctly. Then about 5 or 10 minutes later the vents switch over to AC mode and I get cold air for the duration. Thought the cca might be the problem. Any ideas?

assuming the TEMP knob is at 85 after the engine has reached operating temperature, then the amplifier might be the cause. The only way to confirm is to disconnect the amp at the plug and install another one, whether new or used.

you can easily do the above by removing the "knee vent" panel, driver's side in Left Hand Drive cars, and disconnect the cream color plug with many thin wires, then just connect the replacement amp. Don't bother trying to remove the old one, it is a waste of time and effort.

check with David at Everyday XJ to see if he has a good used one.

Default New A/C Amplifier

Thanks for the recommendation Jose...
Up until a few months ago, there were no new amplifiers being offered anywhere...
Gary Crosby painstakingly under took the task of remanufacturing an amp to exact specifications. These have been field tested by several people, and all have had very positive results...
I've started working with Gary to distribute the amps... These do come with a 180 day warranty from the manufacturer...
Everyone with an XJ6 or XJS knows this is a big deal, as the amps were NLA for a long time..
