Since I am the one that started the string I wanted to thank everyone that contributed, especially Jose who provided the photos of the correct factory keys. Per Jose’s suggestion, I contacted Pete Groh at

in Maryland. He is a gentleman and a true expert. He was able to provide me with a “rubberized” ignition key blank that I will get cut locally. Pete has a great supply of keys for all kinds of old british cars and motorcycles. He can fill orders overseas with PayPal. He has a lot of expertise and can help you identify the key you need. Attached is a photo of my old ugly ‘Ilco’ replacement key and the new rubberized key blank. Thanks again, everybody.

 

don't throw away the old ones, they might save you in an emergency!! Screw them in a hidden place using a wing nut and a lock washer so they are easily removed in case you lose the keys.
