Default Pertronix distributor and coil query.

My 1983 XJ6 developed a no spark condition, I had already ordered a new pertronix D177600 dizzy and 40011 flamethrower coil on hand as a improvement to the car from reading other threads, I replaced the coil and distributor set the timing correctly and the car ran great for a while now at the idle starts jumping all over the place but only after the car is warmed up. I also left the old amplifier on to eliminate potential vacuum leaks. I went back to the pertronix installation instructions and it says that I should be using a 3.0 ohm coil with p/n 40511 and not the 40011 1.5 ohm coil. Could this be part of the issue. I do not believe there is a ballast resistor or resistor wire in this car. Could this be part of the issue or is there a poor ground from the coil that goes to the ecu that would cause this problem? In the old harness there was three wires that connected to the ground on the old coil I am sure one goes to the ecu where Does the other one go to? The tach in the dash? The car ran good prior to the no spark condition which was probably the amp failing.

The "-" post of the coil on the original set-up would have had 3 wires, yes. Tach (white/slate/blue), ECU (White/black), and Ign amplifier(??? also white/black??)

Cheers
