Power steering hose. Help!!!
So after a couple of months of pleasurable driving in the '73 XJ12, a new problem has arisen. All of the power steering fluid burst out onto the road in one heaving gush. I cant tell exactly where from, but there is a suspect hose. The pressure hose. Ive searched here and all of the online outlets that I could think of. All I can find is the return hose. Is there a more common model that used the same hose? Im not positive the hose is the source of the leak, but it's in bad enough shape to warrant changing it before refilling to see were the leek is coming from. This is a left hand drive car.

The pressure hose is the same as PreHE XJ-S, that is up to about 1980ish.
I have no idea of the people in your market, but ANY decent hydraulic hose repairer will replace that flex section for you quick time. Down here I use Pirtek, or Enzed (The Hose Doctor). If that is not to your liking try SNG BArratt, or XK Unlimited. |
yes, any hydraulic hose shop can make a new one, places like Tractor Supply, Truck Supply, etc, can tell you who they use.

Thanks guys. That's what I'll do.

We keep these on the shelf (VIN to be checked). $30 for low pressure $50 for high.
Feel free to call for further details/ordering. |
Or, Google Johns cars in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Aka "Broken Kitty". Primarily a conversion shop, but also a good source for jaguar parts. Nice folks.

I didn't know SNG has the correct hoses at those prices, having one made will cost a lot more. I would order the original hose from SNG.

Thank you all. I did call John's Cars and he wanted $75 so I called Midwest Hose in OKC and they rebuilt it for $15. I'm going to out it back together Saturday morning.
