Default Prepare to lump

Getting ready to yank the original drivetrain in preparation for Ford Barra 4.0L I6 + TR6060 manual transmission (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Barra_engine). Short term will be naturally aspirated 270HP. Long term plan to add turbo with moderate boost (<10psi).

Before I pull the original, does anyone have interest in a good running 4.2L and auto transmission out of a '72 XJ6? 116,000 miles and seems to have been reasonably well cared for. Had fresh, clean fluids when I bought the car last summer. Don't know much about the overall history of the car, but I put on about 500 miles last year without issue. I'll take video of the engine running and driving before it comes out, but if anyone is interested to see it in person or take it for test drive... Car is in Minnesota, USA.

I thought those were Austrailian motors? Very ineresting swap. I bet those can take a few Lbs of boost. Seems like shifter is going to end up farher back than ideal so you may have to weld up a custom shifter.

Indeed it is Australian drivetrain. A few ambitious suppliers have recently figured out how to bring them into the US. People have been making crazy power with them in Australia (and starting to elsewhere). 1000HP is possible with unmodified block, head, and stock crank. The N/A engine that I have is factory rated something like 270HP and 300lb-ft. Unmodified (other than adding turbo), should be able to run 8-10 psi boost on premium pump gas. This should be good for a solid 400HP at the crank. Mated to modern 6-speed manual transmission should make for a fantastic (summer) daily driver.

Yes, factory shifter location will be 10-12 inches too far back. But, the TR6060 is OEM version of the T56 Magnum. Easy to source parts that will put shifter at the "mid-shift" location (flat plate held down by four bolts in picture). Should be just about perfect placement

Also have plans to bolt up full front and rear suspension from '95-96 XJS.

Way back when, a popular fiberglas swap was available make a "sports car" of a late 30's or forties ford chassis.

As the driver s seat was moved back, the on the floor shift lever was too far forward.... Add another back away and comfortable.
Connect the two by links from post to post. Movement transferred just right and lookd "wll"' I dunno..

Interesting project, I would love to see more photos when the swap is done.
Good luck buddy.
